Greenman seems to have started Wilson on certain topics and then been happy to follow him down the meandering paths of his memory. Landy died in 2006, hence the release two years ago of the Wilson biopic Love and Mercy, in which he could serve as the villain, and now this second autobiography, ghosted by Ben Greenman and, one senses, guided by Wilson’s wife and manager, Melinda. ![]() In 1991, the power was wielded by Eugene Landy, the sinister psychotherapist who controlled Wilson’s life for most of the 1980s and in the early 1990s. The work in that case had been done by a ghostwriter, Todd Gold. ![]() When people took exception to some of its contents, Wilson confessed that he hadn’t read it. In 1991 he had his name on a book called Wouldn’t It Be Nice. This is actually the second time Wilson has told his extraordinary life story. According to the blurb accompanying I Am Brian Wilson, this is the book in which the co-founder of the Beach Boys “tells his extraordinary life story for the first time, in his own words”. ![]()

I believe there are as many as six, at one point. Foley has a plethora of viewpoints at play in this novel. One element I loved is that no two characters read the same. I knew something horrible had happened from the very first chapter, which kept me turning the page. ![]() A wedding is supposed to be a happy, joyous day, but for our characters, that wasn’t the case! I loved how Foley played with the two different timelines (the events leading up to the wedding and the aftermath of the wedding). The story had a hauntingly vivid setting with lots of point-of-views, so it kept my attention. The novel is quick, clever, and atmospheric with lots of twists and turns! It is an easy read for a rainy day. Plus, with everyone isolated on this tiny island, everyone is a suspect. The reader doesn’t know who was killed, but through POV, knows that the bride, maid-of-honor, best man, plus one, and the wedding planner all have secrets. With an Agatha Christie-esque feel, a murder takes place at a wedding on an island off the coast of Ireland. One of our members chose this novel, and it was also on my “To Be Read” list, so two birds one stone! Foley’s writing style is gripping and the general plot of the novel was clever. While this book was a past Reese’s Book Club pick, The Guest Listby Lucy Foley was the selected book for one of my personal book clubs. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Palm Beach, Florida | Jeff Cloninger & Ridgely Foster, Sotheby’s International Realty – Palm Beach Brokerage How can Lee help homeowners intentionally imbue a sense of joy into their spaces? That began the journey: if joy could be designed, then how?” I started to ask professors to explain how things could bring a feeling of joy, and they couldn’t answer. “I had always thought of it as an intangible feeling-the idea that tangible objects could lift our emotions was confusing me. “I really didn’t set out to study joy at all,” she says. Her journey started with simple curiosity while studying for her Master’s in Industrial Design at the Pratt Institute.
